Chelsey Peoples Mrs. Gallos English 3 - Honors 2 May 2016 Same Sex Marriage In today’s world same sex marriage is a very hot topic. Same sex marriage has to do with two people of the same gender coming together in ‘unholy’ and religiously scorned matrimony. Discrimination is most common among southerners and those who are strongly religious. These are the people who are set against change typically, preferring things to stay simple. Homosexuality is seen as an issue in today’s society that individuals are fighting over and a movement is working to make equal to the others. Gay marriage has also become more accepted among our society through parades and patience. The activists of our time are for gay rights but where is the line drawn? Where is the line that decides they are equal to everyone else? What is their goal? Some say it is to get an antidiscrimination law but what exactly do they want? An antidiscrimination law that bars what? Not allowing business owners to pass judgement based on sexuality? An antidiscrimination law tha t mandates priests to do same sex marriages as well, no matter their religious beliefs? There has to be a line between where the rights are considered equal and so far that line has been blurred and a very bleak topic. No one seems to decipher when this all will come to an end. So, the nation should ask themselves, what deems a person equal.
